NIST AI RMF 1.0 is voluntary, non-sector-specific guidance for managing risks associated with AI systems. It is useful as a shared vocabulary when an automotive team needs to connect intended use, affected people, system behaviour, and operational controls.

For a project review, begin by documenting the system context and intended use. Then identify relevant risks, select measurable controls, and define how monitoring or incident feedback changes the evidence over time. This is a research lens, not a claim that an AI system complies with a law or standard. Automotive applications may also require sector-specific requirements and evidence.
